Dear Prime Minister

Dear Prime Minister Anthony Albanese,

My name is Patrick Saunders. I am 15 years old and Autistic. I also have Apraxia, ADHD and DCD. I am nonspeaking and communicate by pointing to letters on a letterboard and spell sentences and my thoughts.

I am spelling to you to ask for help. Not for myself but for the children in war zones.

My life has been hard, often very lonely and isolated but I feel safe. It hasn't always been safe. When I couldn't communicate people often mistreated me. They presumed I couldn't understand them, and I was intellectually disabled.

I want the children in the war zones to know I hear them, to know that I care, to know that Australia cares. I understand what depression feels like, but I don't understand why governments around the world fight. How does a war assist and help their cause when there is so much pain, loss and devastation?

The children in these war zones experience so much and they are only kids. No child should have to pay for adult's mistakes, and political aspirations and religious beliefs.

Can you tell me what I can do to help? Can you tell me what Australian children can do to help? Can you tell me what you are doing to help?

Yours sincerely

Patrick Saunders
