San Francisco
I left Australia to go travelling to America and Canada on Thursday 18th of July.

I flew to San Francisco first. I only slept a little on the plane for about 5-10 minutes. I was a good boy but a tired one.

I have been walking with Dad, Mum, Marnie and lots of other people. I’ve seen a coyote, a number of beaches, the Golden Gate Bridge, people from Hiking Autism, people from the Thinking Person’s Guide to Autism and people from the Autism Society of San Francisco Bay Area. I have been on a ferry, a bus, and a Waymo, which is a driverless car.

I have walked about 48 kms so far on beaches, trails and city streets. I am enjoying meeting autistic people and their families. I have met over 20 autistic people so far including Sean, David and Leo.

I walked amongst the tallest trees in the world called Redwoods. Did you know that they grow up to 250 feet high and their roots are only four percent of their total height?

Tomorrow, I fly to Virginia and attend Motormorphosis. It is the largest conference in the world for autistic non-speaking spellers. They are expecting 115 autistic non-speaking spellers to attend. I have waited my whole life to meet a speller like me. I am so excited and nervous.
What a wonderful start to your adventure Patrick! I got goosebumps reading your first post, especially that last line🤗

What an awesome time you are having Patrick! Great to be following your travels from New Zealand :-)
Fantastic. What a journey. I’m glad you’re enjoying the trip, Patrick. Have a great time at the conference. Very excited to read your updates.
Wow! What an amazing trip! Redwoods will always remind me of this quote on Autistic communication from Cal Montgomery.
Have a great time in Virginia at motormorphosis. I can’t wait to hear more.
